Several teachers were injured in a serious road accident on National Highway 31 in the Balapara area of Jalpaiguri on Tuesday morning. The teachers were travelling in a Magic van from Jalpaiguri to Maynaguri to perform guard duty for the Higher Secondary examination when a speeding car allegedly rammed into their vehicle from behind.
The impact of the collision was reportedly severe, leaving multiple teachers injured and triggering panic in the area. Local residents rushed to the spot and helped shift the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment. The condition of the injured teachers has not yet been officially disclosed.
Following the accident, angry locals allegedly vandalised the car involved in the collision. Police reached the spot after receiving information and brought the situation under control. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances leading to the crash.
